I have three supposedly squirrel-proof feeders hanging off a couple of poles on my deck. The third one, the newest purchased, is in the top left of this collage.. there are quite a lot of images from this guy's failed attempts at getting in to the feeder but this particularly cracked me up because of the look on his face... making me think he is saying... WHAT? Leave me alone... I'm working here!
The top right image shows the squirrel trying to figure out a way in to the second of my two feeders that hang off the dual arm post (the other being the one on the top left). This is a tube feeder with feed ports only at the bottom, too far away for the little devils to hang upside down and reach! But they keep trying to see if there is a way in through the top!
The third feeder hangs at the end of the slanted pole the squirrel in the bottom left is almost slipping off of... they walk up the pole and then try to see if they can get into the third feeder (not pictured). They fail at the third feeder because it has a spring loaded cage that slams the feed ports shut once a squirrel's weight is sensed anywhere on the cage.
The bottom right is after the squirrel gave up trying to get in to the feeders and decided to see if the sloppy birds had dropped any goodies onto the deck. If you enjoy their antics, a slide-show of the series of squirrel attempts is available here.
